Construction and property professional with extensive experience in consultancy and client-side capital project delivery and change management in the public, private and third sectors. Professionally qualified as a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Environmentalist and Incorporated Structural Engineer.
For the past eight years I have worked as Technical Project Manager for the Football Foundation providing technical support to grant applicants across a broad range of projects including the construction and refurbishment of changing pavilions, new build and refurbishment of 3G artificial grass pitches, and natural turf pitch works. Work has also included the delivery of the multi-pitch football hubs in Liverpool and Sunderland. My role also includes technical support for Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) grant applications from clubs competing in the National League System, where I’ve gained a wealth of experience in relation to the development of football stadia.
Early civil & structural engineering career highlights included work on the redevelopment of the Albert Dock in Liverpool, and the renovation of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon with Gifford & Partners (who went on to design the Gateshead Millennium Bridge in conjunction with WilkinsonEyre Architects, although I was not personally involved).
This was followed by work for the University of York’s Estates Services, delivering its capital development programme, which covered numerous refurbishment and new build projects. This included the construction of a new Music Research Centre; a complex acoustically treated building designed by van Heyningen and Haward Architects.
I also spent four years at DEFRA delivering its capital development programme, including estate rationalisation and the development of highly sustainable buildings to meet BREEAM Excellent and Outstanding assessment criteria.
